J.S. Bach’s Magnificat and Alec Roth’s A Time to Dance form a double-bill for tonight’s concert featuring the Lea Singers and a baroque orchestra. The inspired and uplifting Magnificat is one of Bach’s finest works, dating from 1723. Perfectly complementing this is A Time to Dance by UK-based composer Alec Roth. This cantata explores the four seasons, drawing on poetry by William Blake, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Robert Herrick, among others.
